Our Curriculum

We cover a good variety of skills during this year!  Here are some of the skills that we will be learning or reviewing in each subject.

Treasures Reading Series

This year we will be using the Treasures Reading Series as a curriculum guide. Each week there will be a sound that we will study, vocabulary words, a grammar concept, and comprehension strategy that will be introduced.  We will also continue to have guided reading, which consists of meeting in small groups to meet their individual needs

 Daily Five

During small group time, the students will be using the structure from the Daily 5.  There are five main components to the daily five:  Read to self, Read to someone, Work on Writing, Listen to a Book, and Working with Words. While the students are rotating amongst those five centers, I will be meeting will small groups or individuals to help them with their reading skills.  For more information on the Daily Five, you can go to http://www.the2sisters.com/the_daily_5.html at we will study, vocabulary words, a grammar coept, and comprehension strategy that will be introduced.
