WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!

2011-2012 School year

I am so excited to begin this school year! I'd like to tell you a little about myself.  I have lived in Ainsworth for a little over 15 years now.  I've been married to Troy for 18 years now and we have three sons: Austin (15 years old) and twins (12 yrs) Gabe and Nathan.  Austin and Gabe are in the Talented and Gifted program, while Nathan has Down syndrome (and thus has more challenges).  I think this wide spectrum of abilities has helped me become a better teacher.  I strive to set realistic, but high standards for all students, regardless of ability.  We are very excited to become foster parents as well!

This is my 9th year teaching at Highland, seven of those years have been in first grade! This will be my first year teaching a combination class (grades 1-2). I'm excited to be teaching a wide variety of ages and skills.  The four of us who are teaching this combination class have met several times over the summer to make your child's school year be the best it can be! I assure you that I will be making sure that I meet your child's needs.

I strongly believe in communication between parents and teachers.  Therefore, if you ever have a concern or question, please don't hesitate to contact me.  If it is an urgent matter, please call the school as I don't always get the opportunity to check my email throughout the day.  Otherwise, please feel free to email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
