Just Read Program

 

 

Riverside Elementary is once again participating in the reading initiative called "Just Read!" The purpose of this program is to encourage reading at home. Research has shown that children who read (or are read to) on a daily basis become better readers.

 

Your child will bring a "just right" book home daily (a "just right" book is a book that is easily read by your child). The expectation is that this book will be read each evening returned the following day. Once the book has been read, your child then can check out another book to take home. For younger grades, the books will be short in nature and thus should be read multiple times as practice. The teachers will be keeping track of your child's participation in Just Read. We hope to see an increase in our students' achievement through this program. Please write down any and all books read at home on the Just Read form!

 

From September through March, we are partnering up with ________If your child reaches a goal during those months, he/she will receive a reward! Our goals are as follows:

In addition, those students who reach one goal or more during those months will get to throw water balloons at ME at the end of the school year! If your child.

  Reaches a goal 6 or 7 months.he/she gets 6 balloons to throw

  Reaches a goal 2-5 months.3 balloons

  Reaches a goal 1 month.1 balloon
